Our Organist and Choir Director
Dr. Joseph D. Daniel-Hoste is a freelance musician whose reputation for musical excellence keeps him busy as a conductor, clinician, and accompanist throughout Michigan.
Dr. Daniel-Hoste served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Organ at Madonna University for the 2018–2019 academic year. At Madonna, he taught applied organ lessons and collaborated with the Lyric Theatre in their opera and musical theatre productions. Prior to his appointment at Madonna, he served as an adjunct faculty member at Washtenaw Community College (2011–2017), where he taught voice, piano, musical theater, and music theory. He also founded and directed the WCC Chamber Singers, a comprehensive choral program comprised of five unique ensembles.
He is increasingly in demand as an orchestral keyboard musician with many local and regional orchestras. In 2012, he performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as part of the AVANTI Summer Program. He also performs with many local community theater companies, serving in music director and pit musician capacities.
Dr. Daniel-Hoste made his professional performance debut in 2001 with concerts in France and Germany and has since played recitals throughout Michigan and Texas. He has also appeared in California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.
Dr. Daniel-Hoste completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Michigan) as the final pupil of the late Dr. Robert Glasgow. Prior to his doctoral study, he earned dual master’s degrees in organ and carillon performance, also from the University of Michigan. He also holds a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from the College of Saint Mary (Omaha, Nebraska).
A published composer, Dr. Daniel-Hoste’s works have been performed around the globe. In addition to his musical endeavors, Dr. Daniel has served on the boards of the Ann Arbor Youth Chorale and the University of Michigan LGBTQA Alumni Association.
